If you are suffering from a bit of “cabin fever” or winter blahs, think Spring! Before you know it, spring will be arriving, with early blossoms leading into summer blooms. So, it is time to plan now. Start thinking of what magnificent floral arrangements you could make of fresh-cut flowers from your garden.
To get you into the mood, University of Illinois Master Gardeners from Whiteside County will host a “Blooming Petals” Workshop on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the Sterling Extension office, 12923 Lawrence Road, Sterling, IL. (Turn south off IL Route 30 when approaching Rock Falls, IL, from the west; shortly before the Rock River.)
The focus of the workshop is to learn the “ins and outs” of floral arranging. Enjoy a totally “hands on” activity with fresh flowers and containers provided. Each participant will design a display to take home. There is a $15 materials fee.
The program is open to Middle School age youth through adults. Space is limited, so sign up soon. Register at go.illinois.edu/whitesideblooming or by calling Mary Nelson at 815-632-3611.
