February 14 Morrison Police Report

Morrison Chief of Police Brian Melton reports the following Arrests made and Citations issued since Friday, February 14, 2020.

Arrests:  On Sunday, February 23, 2020, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Morrison Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Archildress R. Byrd, age 30 of Chicago, IL, for a window obstruction (tint.)  The traffic stop was conducted on E. Lincolnway at Bartlett Street, Morrison, IL.  As a result of the traffic stop, Byrd was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended and Operating Uninsured Vehicle.  Byrd was released on a Notice to Appear.  A passenger in the vehicle, Brian G. Berry, age 28 of Chicago, was issued a citation for Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle.  Berry was released on a Notice to Appear.  Another passenger in the vehicle, Jaylin J. Arnold, age 21 of Chicago, was arrested and charged for Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (over 30 grams) with the Intent to Deliver.  Arnold was transported to the Whiteside County Jail.  The Morrison Police were assisted by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at approximately 8:03 a.m., Morrison Police responded to a semi that was stuck on the railroad crossing at Jackson Street, Morrison, IL.  As a result of the investigation into this incident, the driver of the semi, Matthew W. McKay, age 39 of Milan, IL, was issued a citation for Disobeying a Traffic Control Device.  The Union Pacific Railway responded and made emergency repairs, requiring the crossing to be temporarily closed.
