February 1 Windmill Cultural Center: Teacher at Sea

CarolSchnaiterThe Volunteer Educators at the Windmill Cultural Center in Fulton, IL, invite the public to attend the next program of the season. The February 1, 2017, Wild Winter Wednesdays at the Windmill Cultural Center will showcase an area classroom teacher’s experiences at sea. The public is invited to gather at 9:00 a.m. for coffee, tea, and refreshments. The program begins at 9:15.

The building, 111 10th Avenue, Fulton, is accessible to people with disabilities. The program is funded through a grant from the Fulton Association for Community Enrichment (FACE).

Carol Schnaiter will present “Teacher at Sea.” She taught in the Amboy School District #272 for 36 years. Sixteen of those years were spent as the K-4 Science Educator. Carol founded and led after school science enrichment programs at Amboy Central School from 2006 to 2016. She has received numerous awards for her science teaching expertise.

In 2014 Schnaiter was chosen to participate in the NOAA Teacher at Sea Class. “Being in the NOAA Teacher at Sea Program was a highlight of my teaching career. For me, to work next to scientists and be at sea for 16 days was a dream come true,” she said. Her presentation “Teacher at Sea” documents her experiences.  

A new feature each week will be the addition of bread for sale by Krumpets Bakery. Guests will be able to purchase bread made with de Immigrant flour at the Windmill Cultural Center.

WWW@WCC programs are held on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. from December to the end of March. Programs are free and open to the public.
