Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, is the 8th Annual Pow-Wow at the Prophetstown State Park.
Host drum Beenah Un Dennah (Song of the Wind) will perform.
The head woman dancer is Rose Sanderson; Leonard Malatare will emcee. There will be lots of traders selling Native arts and crafts. A food vendor will sell fry bread and Indian tacos. Saturday, August 10, is movie night for the whole family in Eclipse Memorial Park.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a movie under the stars, starting at dusk. The Avengers will be show. With some popcorn, a chair, and the stars above, what more can you want! This film is presented by Prophetstown Main Street and IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union.
Saturday, September 7, brings Arts on the Square and a Scarecrow Contest at Eclipse Square.
The Arts on the Square is a day for the whole family. Artists and craftspeople from the surrounding area will show original work in the beautiful setting of Prophetstown’s Eclipse Square Park. The public will judge both events, and prizes for winners will be given.
“It’s our first year, so let’s make this a success and fun. Use your imagination and talents,” encouraged Detra. Categories for the scarecrows are Individual, Group, and Business.
