Celebrate the autumnal shift at Heritage Canyon, 515 N. 4th Street, Fulton, IL, with the Early American Crafters and guest reenactors. “Fall Festival” takes place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is by donation, to explore the grounds, buildings, and Petting Zoo. Plan to take photographs in the canyon and across the street, along the Mississippi River.
Park downtown and ride the free trolley to and from the Canyon; the last return pickup is 4:00 p.m.
Cocoa, popcorn, Tang, coffee, and lemonade will be available.
Fun will be found outdoors. Enjoy the Petting Zoo and shop as you enter the Canyon. Walk across the swinging bridge. Visit interpreters inside the 1860s Frondle House and its Summer Kitchen. By the gazebo, twist a rope with Kirk Wellman; watch the clever carver make wooden toys. Inside the renovated Church with its new flooring, sit to enjoy folk music by Coral and daughter Kiki.
Climb rugged steps to the log cabin, to meet Little John the Trapper and his dog, Jack.
Near the school, share the seesaw or play gourd tic-tac-toe with a sibling or friend.
Blacksmiths Rick Medd (left) and Gene Whistman will be at the forge. Examine their hand crafted items for sale.
Next door in the Iron Works building, wood carver Johan Stoltz will demonstrate his useful artistry. Choose a beautiful spoon or unique walking stick for yourself or as a gift.
Find Librarian Jennifer Garden arranging the new Canyon Library. It is upstairs at the General Store/Ice Cream Parlor. Liz and Kelly have merchandise of interest: a Canyon cookbook; t-shirts; candy; writing tablets; etc.
