Fair Week: Obey Parking Regulations

parkingticketPolice Chief Brian Melton submitted the following press release on Monday, August 17, 2015. 

“Today, in preparation of the Whiteside County Fair which starts tomorrow, the City of Morrison Public Works Department posted “No Parking” signs in the residential area surrounding the Whiteside County Fairgrounds.  These “No Parking” signs have been posted on portions of Genesee Avenue, S. Genesee Street, Winfield Street, South Street, S. Base Street, S. Orange Street, and Andy Brands Drive.  Along with the regular permanent signs (in some areas), these temporary signs will be enforced by the Morrison Police Department.”

“We welcome the public to attend and enjoy the Whiteside County Fair, but we also want everyone to be safe and comply with all parking regulations.”

 

Chief Melton continued, “Along with the posted signs, please remember that it is unlawful to park

  • on a sidewalk
  • blocking a driveway/alley
  • on a crosswalk (marked or unmarked)
  • within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
  • in the parkway
  • within the intersection
  • against traffic flow.

The fine for a parking Ordinance violation is $25.
