The Whiteside County Fair has an amazing line up of entertainment, with something sure to please those who attend. The Fair opens Tuesday, August 16, 2016, and concludes on Saturday, August 20. The 146th annual fair, held at the fairgrounds in Morrison, IL, has something for everyone that you won’t want to miss. Here is a schedule of the day’s main events.
Tuesday, August 16, the Bulls are coming to Morrison. The evening grandstand entertainment is “Pro-Bull Riding” at 7:00 p.m. Watch Cowboy daredevils try to hang on for eight seconds, while four-legged animals try to spoil their plans. Other events are the Western Horse Show at 8:00 a.m.; Open Swine Judging at noon; Jr. Swine Judging at 4:30 p.m., Kids Pedal Pull at 2:00, and Rabbit Judging at 6:00.
Wednesday, August 17, “Home Free” will take the main stage in front of the grandstand, singing their Country style of a cappella music at 7:00 p.m. Western Horse speed events start at 8:00 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. the Dairy will be judged.
Thursday, August 18, the grandstand entertainment featuring the car-crushing, high-flying Monster Truck Throwdown which starts at 7:00 p.m., including the air-born daredevils, FMX (Freestyle Motocross.) In front of the grandstand at 9:00 a.m. the Heavy Horse Halter Classes will be judged. Also at 9:00, the Beef Cattle, Jr. Heifer/Jr. Steer, will be judged at the Beef Show Arena. At 1:00 p.m. Heavy Horses will be in front of the grandstand with the Horsemanship Hitch.
Friday, August 19, the Illini Pullers Association brings Tractors and Trucks that will pull the sled, showing off their horsepower at 6:30 p.m. right after the Antique Tractor Parade that starts at 5:30. During the morning at 9:00 a.m. the Heavy Horse Hitches will be seen from the grandstand. The Open Beef Show will be judged in the Beef Show Arena at 9:00 also. At 1:00 p.m. the Heavy Horses come back to entertain with the 6-, 4-, and Unicorn Hitches.
Saturday, August 20, the car-crunching Demolition Derby takes the track at 6:30 p.m. Harness Racing will take on the track at 1:00 p.m. to entertain during the afternoon races. Other events are the Horseshoe Tournament at 10:00 a.m. and Kids’ Pedal Pull at 11:00.
