FACE Community Grants Awarded $4000

Six organizations received 2017 FACE Community Impact grants at a presentation held at the Masonic Lodge on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Seventeen applications were received, with a total of almost $11,600 being requested for various local projects and services. FACE, Fulton’s Community Foundation and a components fund of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, was able to respond to $4000 of those requests.

The recipients are as follows:

  • Andresen Nature Center, which received $600, to allow it to purchase several camcorders for event-logging, wildlife filming, and for kid-friendly use on field hikes during scavenger hunts.
  • Friends for Charity, which received $500, to help refill the clothes closet at the Fulton Elementary School. This clothing includes outwear, under garments, shoes and boots for children who do not have the clothes they need.
  • millers at de Immigrant Windmill, which received $400, to purchase a customized safety harness for millers to use when climbing the sails to put on or take off sailcloth and sail boards.
  • Fulton Kiwanis Club, which received $1,000, to help provide warm clothing an some Christmas gifts to local children, one-year-olds through middle schoolers, whose families qualify for meal assistance at the schools and who choose to request this holidya support.
  • Midwest Pets for Life, which, received $500, to provide services such as low-cost spay/neuter procedures and low-cost vaccinations, for pets living in the 61252 zip code area.
  • Schmaling Memorial Public Library, which received $1000, to add to their holdings of audio-books, both fiction and non-fiction. This is a high demand are for vision-impaired readers, commuters, long-haul truck drivers, and others who just enjoy listening to a good book, rather than reading it.
