Heritage Canyon will come to life with the help of the Early American Crafters, on September 29 & 30, from 10AM until 4PM. This is Illinois’ Bicentennial Celebration – 1818 – 2018, so the FALL FESTIVAL at Heritage Canyon is going all-out! This year’s event is going to be bigger than ever, and there is so much going on…well, here is a little idea of what you can expect this year: Dan Lybarger, a Native Cherokee and Ojibwe, will share his knowledge of Native American history and culture, and play his Native American flute. Little John, the “Mountain Man” will be here. There is going to be a “School Marm” conducting class in the School House, at the Doctor’s building, Doctor Love will be “in” and at the Blacksmith Shop, there will be a blacksmith busy forging metal in his hot fire and then pounding it out on the anvil. This is just a sample of what to expect! SO much to see and do, and there might just be something sweet at the Main Street Building, you will not want to miss!
Right next to Heritage Canyon, is Andresen Nature Center, and they are going to have more FALL FESTIVAL activities going on to compliment Heritage Canyon’s activities. Games and races, speakers, a “Storybook Trail”, balloons, bubbles, and you just might be able to enjoy the experience and release a Monarch butterfly that has just emerged from it’s cocoon.
