Evelyn Lucille Jacobs, 96, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL.
She was born on September 3, 1918, in rural Sterling to John and Helen (Stralow) Jacobs. She was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Lutheran faith. She continued to worship at Messiah Lutheran Church. Evelyn was a former telephone operator for Illinois Bell for 31 years before retirement. Evelyn enjoyed her family, church friends, former telephone co-workers, and the friends with whom she vacationed.
Surviving are her sister, Dorothy; nieces, Joyce (Ron) Roberts and Karla Hinrichs, both of Sterling; Janice (Gail) Bush of Galt; Karen (Ron) Nehring, of Morrison, IL; Sandy (Bob) Daugherty, of Little Chute, WI; Sherrie (Lyle) Dirks, of Winnebago, IL; nieces-in-law, Marilou Hohlen and Patricia Hohlen; 19 great-nieces and -nephews; numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Nellie Hohlen and Marjorie Hinrichs; nephews, Ronald, Duane, and Lyle Hohlen; a great-nephew.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL, with Pastor David Burge officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m., prior to the funeral at the church.
Burial will be held at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, IL.
Memorials will be established to Christ Lutheran School and Messiah Lutheran Church.
