Evelyn C. Landheer, 95, of Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Resthave Home.
Evelyn was born May 29, 1922, in Fulton, IL, to Rencie and Alice (Newendyke) Dyke. She was a 1940 graduate of Morrison High School. On June 21, 1944, she married Walter E. Landheer in Morrison. He died August 13, 1987. Evelyn worked at the utility company in Morrison, before her marriage, and as a housewife and helper on the farm, after she was married. Evelyn was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the church’s Philathea Society; worked in the church kitchen for funeral luncheons and banquets; taught Catechism. She was also a member of the Resthave Home Auxiliary and the Mother’s Club of the rural McAllister School. Evelyn enjoyed farm life, going out to eat, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her daughter Karen’s little dog, Sammy Jo, coming to Resthave Home every day to see her, lying on her lap, and giving her “kisses” on the chin.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Landheer of Morrison; one son, Gary (Diana) Landheer of Morrison; two grandchildren, Andrea Landheer and Jamie Landheer; six great-grandchildren, Kurstin, Tristyn, Ciara, Braden, Paityn, and Jace; three step-grandchildren, Jessie, Tadd, and Michelle; four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; two sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established.
