evan haagEvan R. Haag, 74, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison.

Evan was born on June 2, 1944, in Freeport, IL, the son of Carl and Neva (Traum) Haag.  He attended Chadwick, IL, schools and graduated with the class of 1962.  He graduated from Freeport Community College and Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL.  On December 16, 1967, he married Marcia Tripp at Chadwick First Lutheran Church.  Evan was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam.  After his discharge he and Marcia settled in Morrison.  He worked for many years as an accountant at Clinton Corn and later at American Xyrofin/Danisco in Thomson, IL, before retiring in 2009.  He played softball and bowled in various leagues and was an avid golfer, especially after his retirement.  Evan enjoyed working outside in the gardens and his pond and loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandsons.  He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council.  He also served on the board of Clinco Community Credit Union, the Girls Softball League in Morrison, and most recently was serving as Treasurer for the City of Morrison.

Evan will be dearly missed by his wife, Marcia; two daughters, Liz (Jarod) Schroeder of Evanston, IL, and Stephanie (Josh) Hughes of Grand Rapids, MI; grandsons, Tate and Turner; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Allen and Leo.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL, with Rev. Chris Schoon, Pastor of First Lutheran Church in Chadwick, IL, officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.

The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established to Bethesda Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association, and Morrison Schools Foundation.
