evan lewisEvan D. Lewis, 87, of Bickford Cottage, Clinton, IA, formerly of Albany, IL, died Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Bickford Cottage.

Evan was born September 2, 1930, in Tampico, IL, to Walter and Lucille (Drury) Lewis. He was educated in the Erie, IL, grade schools and graduated from Erie High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On October 19, 1958, he married Mary Jane Ryder. She died June 8, 2007. Evan was a lineman at Interstate Power in Clinton. He then worked at FS in Lyndon, IL, and lastly for 3M in Cordova, IL, retiring after 23 years. Evan also served as the Tax Assessor for Whiteside County. He was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and a past Commander of the Hanson/Kennedy Albany American Legion Post #1079. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Albany Fire Department, a member of the Fulton Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Albany Lions Club. He also served on the Riverbend School Board. Evan was instrumental in developing the youth baseball program in Albany. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Fulton Country Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Cathy Bell of Marion, OH; one son, Marty (Patti) Lewis of Albany; one granddaughter, Annie Bell; one step-granddaughter, Jennifer (Nate) Yarbrough; two step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Alice Evans of Morton, IL, and Agnes (Jim) Knowlsen of California; one brother, Albert (Sandy) Lewis of Morrison, IL; one nephew, Tom (Joyce) Tegeler of Albany.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane; two sisters, Gracia Burgess and Margaret Bradshaw.

FUNERAL:  11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL

OFFICIATING: Pastor Toni Lucas, Albany United Methodist Church

VISITATION:  4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Lusk Memorial Cemetery, Albany, IL

A memorial has been established by the family.
