Esther Christine Ebbers, 88, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, December 10, 2023 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL

Esther was born April 27, 1935, in Morrison, to Clarence and Anna (Balk) Bielema. She attended the grade schools in Thomson, IL, and graduated from Thomson High School. On December 12, 1958, she married David “Dick” Ebbers at Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, IL. Esther did Bookkeeping for Fulton Elevator until she embarked on her journey of raising her family and homemaking. She also helped with the bookkeeping for her husband’s business, Ebbers’ Plumbing. She cherished her last job, a position with the Morrison Elementary School lunch program, which she held for 35 years. Esther was a member of Emmanuel Church in Morrison, where she actively participated in various church activities and served in multiple roles. Her unwavering faith and selfless contributions were not only evident in her actions, but also in the positive impact she had on the lives of those around her. he enjoyed reading and working on puzzles, but most of all she loved her time with her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and they brought much enjoyment in her life.

Survivors include her husband of almost 65 years, Dick; children, Mark (Laura) Ebbers of Holland, MI, Marlene (Tim) Knox of Morrison, Jim (Lori) Ebbers of Carnation, WA, and Doug (John) Ebbers of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Justin Knox, Joel (Kara) Ebbers, Anna (Matthew) Beck, Leah (Joshua) Mugford, Ryan (Janice) Ebbers, and Kaitlyn Ebbers; eight great-grandchildren, Braeden and Emma Ebbers, Laura, Andrew, and Benjamin Mugford, Cora, Oliver, and Gabrielle Beck; sister, Ruth Venema of Fulton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Donald, Howard, Stanley, and Kenneth Bielema.

Funeral services will be a 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, at Emmanuel Church in Morrison, IL, with a Visitation preceding the service at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Luke Schouten will be officiating the service.

The Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.

Memorials have been established to Emmanuel Church and Morrison Elementary School’s Lunch Program.
