The York Township Public Library and the Thomson, IL, Chamber of Commerce announce the annual Christmas Festival of Trees. Entries are being sought from business, organization, school, and church groups or individuals to participate in the fun. Sponsor a decorated tree in the Community Room of the Thomson Public Library.
There are two categories.
Bring your own tree, which must be under 6′ feet tall. Decorate it any way you wish to bring a festive atmosphere, showing the Spirit of Christmas in our community. The trees must be in place by Saturday, December 9, 2017, and taken down by Christmas. The Chamber will award money prizes for the following “best” trees:
- $100 for first
- $75 for second
- $25 for third place.
Visitors will have a chance to vote for their favorite.
In addition, a Children’s Book Character Festival of Trees is being sponsored by the Thomson Library. A $25 award will be given for the best decorated “Character” tree. No trees may be over 6 feet tall. All must be on display by Saturday, December 9.
There is no entry fee. All are welcome to join in the fun.
