“National Treasure” is an American adventure film by Disney Pictures. It will be shown at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, beginning at 2:00 p.m. This is an exciting and fun-filled film with tidbits of American history, starring Nicolas Cage, Jon Voight, and Christopher Plummer.
Benjamin Franklin Gates (Cage) is a third-generation treasure hunter. All his life he has searched for a treasure no one believes exists. This treasure has been amassed through the ages, moved across continents, and become the greatest treasure the world has ever known. Although hidden by our Founding Fathers, they did leave behind clever clues.
Those clues take him from our Nation’s birthplace and to its capitol. The journey leads him to the last place anyone thought to look: a map hidden on the back of the Declaration of Independence!
However, what Gates thought was the final clue is only the beginning. He realizes to protect the world’s greatest treasure, he must do the unthinkable–steal the best-guarded document in American history before it falls into the wrong hands.
It then becomes a race against time, to stay one step ahead of his ruthless enemy and elude authorities. Gates must decipher the remaining clues and unlock the 2000-year-old mystery behind our greatest National treasure.
There is no charge, although donations are most welcome. Pop and popcorn will be served in the air-conditioned Program Room.
