Emily G. Jevne, 91, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, at her home.
Emily was born April 1, 1922, in Chicago, IL, to Charles O. and Albertina M. (DeMilliano) Bockhaut. She was educated in the Hawthorn Grade School and was a graduate of Lakeview High School both in Chicago. Emily married James A. Jevne on June 6, 1944, in Chicago. He died March 6, 1989. Emily, along with her late husband, Jim, and son, Don, owned and operated Morrison True Value Store from 1974 until retiring. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Morrison and served as the official “Master Gardener” for the former church location on Lincolnway. Emily enjoyed sewing, baking, arts, crafts, and her dogs. She was known to her family as an exceptional “homemaker.” Her children were the center of her life. Emily was a meticulous record keeper. As a child of the Depression, she was keenly aware of every penny spent.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Tom) Acton of Roscoe, IL; four sons, Jim (Joan) Jevne of Downers Grove, IL; Steve (Cathy) Jevne of Wheaton, IL; Don (Jackie) Jevne of Morrison; Robert (Jill) Jevne of Jacobson, MN; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alida Croker of Mission Viejo, CA, and Eleanore Peleska of Mundelein, IL; one brother, Charles (Helen) Bockhaut of Ft. Myers, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; two sisters, Maria Zimmerman and Angela Albrecht; one brother, Oliver Bockhaut.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Father William Antillon, Pastor, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, IL
VISITATION: 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Morrison, IL
