Elwyn D. Newendyke (1950 – 2015)

Elwyn D.Newendyke, 64, passed away January 8, 2015, at Landmark Hospital, Columbia, MO.

Elwyn was born October 14, 1950, to Edward E. and Marian G. Newendyke in Morrison, IL. In February 1978 he married Iola D. Medenblik in Fulton, IL. At the age of four and a half years, the family moved to the farm north of Cottonwood. For two years, he attended the one-room Cottonwood School. He attended the Union Grove School for six years and graduated from Morrison High School in 1968. He was very active in 4H and FFA during those years. From ages 13 to 20, Elwyn worked for L. A. and E. T. Abbott, farming and showing cattle at the county fairs. For ten years he worked for General Electric. He began his farming career on Hillside Road in Morrison and continued to farm there with Iola. In 2002, we bought a cattle ranch in Missouri, where he enjoyed farming until his health failed. Even then he was involved as much as he could be with the cows and calves, which were his biggest pleasure. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Fulton and currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Winigan, MO.

Elwyn is survived by his wife, Iola; one brother, Laverne D. Newendyke; one brother-in-law, Donald Boelkens; uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janice Boelkens.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

VISITATION:  4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Janaury 13, 2015, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
