Elmer Temple, 93, of Prairie Hills at Clinton in Clinton, IA, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Prairie Hills.
Elmer was born June 24, 1923, in Garden Plain, IL, to Burnie and Minnie (Medema) Temple. He was educated in the Hope Grade School in Garden Plain Township, and graduated from Erie High School in Erie, IL. He married Catherine Slager on June 16, 1946, in Fairhaven, IL. Elmer and his wife engaged in farming in the Garden Plain area until 2007, when they moved to Morrison, IL. He was a former member of Garden Plain Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee and elder. He was a current member of Morrison United Methodist Church where he was on the Administrative Council. He served on the Garden Plain School Board for many years. Elmer, along with his wife, enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; two daughters, Bonnie (Steve) Adams of Geneseo, IL, and Becky (Steve) Dickhut of Port Byron, IL; one son, Don (Karen) Temple of Fulton, IL; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Davis, Lori (Bryan) Phillips, Jeff (Dawn) Dickhut, Brian Dickhut, Dave (Karen) Dickhut, Laura Temple, Tonya (Aaron) Krueger, Doug (Abrigail) Temple, and Krista Temple; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Temple of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Pelham.
