Ella Mae Norman, 94, of Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Resthave Home.
Ella Mae was born September 28, 1923, in Newton Township, IL, to Jacob and Eva (Strating) DeVries. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. Ella Mae married Alfred “Alfie” Norman on April 23, 1942, in Clinton, IA. She farmed along with her husband in the Newton Township area of rural Erie for 30 years. Ella Mae was a member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, the church’s Missionary Society, and the choir member and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a Pink Lady Volunteer at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. Ella Mae enjoyed crafting and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred “Alfie”; three daughters, Evelyn (Vernon) Pessman of Fulton, Linda (Larry) Russell of Fulton, and Mrs. Janice DeWeerdt of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Keith (Vicki) Norman of Fulton; eight grandchildren, Traci Pessman, Tricia (Todd) Knutsen, Mark (Rebecca) Russell, Amber (Peter) Strang; Sam, Sydney, Sadie, and Sara Norman; seven great-grandchildren, Madison and Lucas Knutsen, Olivia, Bryn, and Rowan Russell, Austin DeWeerdt, and Jack Strang; one brother, John (Ruth) DeVries of Palo Alto, CA.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie VanZuiden and Jennie Venhuizen; one brother, Herman DeVries; one son-in-law, Dan DeWeerdt.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, preceded by a Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Rev. Kevin VerHoeven, Pastor of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, will officiate.
Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
A memorial to Second Reformed Church has been established.
