The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has announced the names of this year’s students honored as Illinois State Scholars for 2012-2013. The State Scholar program recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement. Eleven Morrison High School students are among the 532 Illinois State Scholars.
Before class, they gathered for a photograph on Friday, November 30, 2012, at the school. Included in this prestigous group, left-to-right, are front row, Gregory Magana and Alexander Volckmann; middle, Olivia Vander Bleek, Savannah Horn, Victoria Horn, and Madison Cromwell; back, Cassandra Meurs, Billie Jean Conner, Alyssa Patten, Caitlynn Kruse, and Kaitlyn Finneran.
Students ranking in the top ten percent of the State’s graduating high school seniors are named State Scholars. Selection is based on ACT and/or SAT I test score results and/or students’ individual class rank, at the end of the junior year of high school.
While the program does not provide a monetary award, the designation as a State Scholar can be listed on applications for college admission and scholarships.
