Eldora Tichler, 95, of Resthave Home, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Resthave Home.
Eldora was born in Morrison to Robert and Minnie (Pruis) Douma. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County and Morrison Grade Schools. Eldora married Kenneth J. Tichler on February 14, 1941, in Morrison. He died November 30, 2005. Eldora was a homemaker. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the church’s Lydian and Ladies Aid Societies. She also served as a Sunday School, Catechism, and Bible School teacher. Eldora was known for the pies she baked for the former Ice Box Restaurant. She also enjoyed embroidery and sending cards to family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Meyer of Alto, MI, and Charlotte (Bill) Cox of Vail, AZ; one son, Richard (Kathleen) Tichler of Fort Wayne, IN; five grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Cox, Daniel Cox, Lisa (John) Valdez, Marcia (Bryan) McCree, and Ryan Tichler; 11 great-grandchildren, Sydney and Carter Cox; Samantha, Matthew, Nicholas, and Vanessa Valdez; Camille Barclay, Jacob Peel, and Bryan McCree, Jr., Cole and Caden Tichler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; one son-in-law, William Meyer; one sister, June Schaver; two brothers, Charles and Lee Douma.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care at Ebenezer Reformed Church
VISITATION: 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014, until the time of the service, at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
