Edward L. Dittmar, age 91 formally of Milledgeville, IL, died Friday, October 16, 2015, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL.
Edward was born October 5, 1924, in Chadwick, IL, the son of John William and Bertha Louise (Schleaning) Dittmar. He married Elaine Shirley LeFevre on December 28, 1962, in Polo, IL. She preceded him in death on May 8, 1999. Edward was a life-long farmer. After retiring from farming, Edward worked at the Milledgeville Elevator. He was a member of the Milledgeville First United Methodist Church in Milledgeville and was very dedicated to the Carroll County Fair for many years.
Survivors include daughter, Carol (Victor) Raines of Dixon, IL; step-daughter, Karen (Kim) Sturtevant of Lanark, IL; son, Jerry Dittmar of Sterling, IL; three step-sons, Frank (Wendy) Folk of Indiana, David (Chris) Folk of Milledgville, and Kevin (Marlie) Folk of Milledgeville; sister, Joan (Russell) Schryver of Milledgeville; brother, Clifford (Faith) Dittmar of Milledgeville; son-in-law, Blaine Riesselman of Rock Falls, IL; sister-in-law Nancy Dittmar; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his special friend Bernita Bush of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Glen Dittmar; one daughter, Linda Riesselman.
A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Milledgeville, Il.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the Milledgeville First United Methodist Church in Milledgeville, IL, with Pastor Andrew Pittman and Reverend Bob Burton co-officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
