There was anticipation and excitement for the youngsters ages ten and under who attended the Easter egg hunt at Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 500 N. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL, on Thursday, March 28, 2013. The fun began at 4:00 p.m.
On the north side of the facility, three grassy areas had been delineated with sunny yellow “crime scene” tape earlier in the morning.
By afternoon, the parking lot was full of vehicles. Approximately a dozen residents sat on the Tarmac, to enjoy the fun.
The Easter Bunny was nestled on a bench under a tree, so children could have their photograph taken, before finding the location of their egg hunt. The spring sunshine caused little, bright eyes to be shut–but just until the picture was taken. Then they eagerly surveyed the egg fields.
The grass had been covered with colorful plastic eggs. Astute children noticed other delights scattered throughout the course: balls, frisbees, toy sabers, bottles of soap bubbles, markers, and sidewalk chalk for example.
When the horn sounded the start for the 0-to-3-year-olds, they proceeded cautiously or timidly through the egg field. Some were carried. Supportive adults helped them pick up eggs or toys, as they learned a new skill.
Those aged four-through-six, some of whom are shown above yelling “Bunny!”, needed little encouragement and quickly set out, removing every colorful item from the grass. The final group of seven-to-ten-year olds did the same.
Because of the generousity of Pleasant View, everyone enjoyed a plethora of candy-filled eggs to open. Finding what was inside was a second delight–like Halloween and Valentine’s Day.
” I got a lot of eggs!” Annabelle announced proudly. Brother Isaac was not impressed.
These were recycled into storage tubs for next year–another lesson learned by the little ones. Inside three eggs, one from each age group, was a piece of paper. The collectors of those eggs received a large basket of seasonal playthings.
