Easter Bunny’s Helpers Pack Eggs

Posted by

There was a host of happy helpers at Resthave Retirement & Nursing Home, 408 Maple Avenue, Morrison, IL, on Saturday morning, April 12, 2014, to prepare for the Easter Bunny’s upcoming event.  The Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 19, at Kiwanis Park, Morrison.  The big bunny will be delivered at 9:45 a.m., courtesy of Morrison Fire Department personnel.  At 10:00 the dash for eggs will begin with the youngest children.

Kiwanians, Morrison High School Key Club members, volunteers, and Resthave residents set to work stuffing over a thousand colorful plastic eggs.  They filled them with candy and bubble gum.  Some eggs also hold notes for toy prizes or coupons for food treats at DQ Grill & Chill and Hardee’s.

Kiwanis member Kenny Huizenga said he purchased $220 worth of candy at Sam’s Club.  Children who require sugar-free candy can swap their egg contents on Saturday, thanks to Kathy Frederick.

Key Club Advisor Kris Bielema stated, “Thank you very much for promoting Key Club and the Morrison Kiwanis. They are wonderful kids!  They give me so much hope and optimism for our future!”

Bielema sat on the floor with the Bunny Bridgade as they paused in their work.  Shown left-to-right are Eryn Young – 10; Eric Kull – 9; Ashley Damhoff – 10; Abbie Kull – 11; Ashley Hagerman – 10; Krysta Mapes – 10; Brianna McNinch – grade 10; Korey Zigler – 10; Brandon Schroeder – 11.
