Anthony Fulton is a Senior at Morrison High School. In addition, he is a Boy Scout Eagle Scout candidate, with an ambitious service project: to help Primary grades children improve their reading. He is hosting a book drive as his Eagle Scout Service Project.
“My goal is to gather enough books to give every student at Northside School a book. This would be about 275 books. These books would be for kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders.
“As of now, only 110 books have been donated, with more books for Kindergarteners being donated than books for…the other groups.” The deadline for his book drive is Friday, October 2, 2020.
Every Eagle Scout project requires a public involvement component. Fulton seeks the public’s support to collect the remaining 165 books.
“The place that the books will be gathered is at Morrison Computer Repair,” 223 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL, across the street from Community State Bank. The building is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
“Books can also be sent to Morrison High School with your student.
“If you wish to donate money, please buy a book instead, either online or at places like Goodwill, where many books can be bought very cheaply.
“Thank you for your effort to help me reach this Scouting goal,” added Fulton.
He is 17 and joined Cub Scouts as a third grade Bear. He is soon to achieve the highest honor a Boy Scout can earn. Book donors can be proud to assist.
