Duane L. Stern, 82, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Duane was born August 28, 1941, in Sterling, IL, the son of Louis and Loretta (Rickleff) Stern. He married Charlotte Blevins on September 18, 1965, in Sterling.
Duane served in the Army as a Military Police Officer from January 1962 to January 1963. He worked for State Farm Insurance from the late 1960s until his retirement in 2001, earning numerous awards and accolades.
Survivors include his son, Todd (Angela) Stern of Rockford; sisters, Marian Landheer of Morrison, IL, and Irene (Kenneth) Nusbaum of Sterling; brother, Darold Stern of Florida; four grandchildren, that were the joy of his life, Brittney, Samantha, Kali, and Hudson.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Loretta Stern; sister, Janice Brackemyer; wife of 57 years, Charlotte Stern.
Duane’s family would like to thank all the staff from Trustwell Living at Cherryvale Place, Rockford, IL, for the amazing care and compassion they showed Duane during his time there.
Services are being held Thursday, January 18, 2024, for family and close friends.
A memorial has been established for Christ the Rock Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL.
