Dorothy P. Knox-Shaw, 91, of Resthave Retirement & Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at the Home.
Dorothy was born January 13, 1922, in Lyndon, IL, to Orley F. and Pearl E. (Given) Keller. She was educated in the Lyndon Grade School and was a graduate of Lyndon High School in Lyndon. Dorothy first married Cecil Knox on January 25, 1941, in Prophetstown, IL. She later married Kenneth E. Shaw on August 27, 1977, in Morrison. He died January 19, 2013. Dorothy was employed by various Morrison businesses for several years. She also owned and operated several businesses, including the Ric-Shaw Shoppe in Prophetstown and Morrison. Dorothy was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison and the former Morrison Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, sewing, crocheting, and playing cards.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail (Alvin) Smith of Morrison; Peggy Ottens of Morrison; Kris (Arlyn) Deets of Morrison; three step-daughters, Vickey (Jerry) Stuckey of Davenport, IA; Ruth (Joseph) Brunner of Fairfield, OH; Mary (James) Nurre of Montgomery, OH; nine grandchildren, Wade (Jill) Kaufman, Jacqueline (Rich) Woodman, Jeff (Kelly) Smith, Bart (Cindy) Ottens, Brett Ottens, Nicole Arians, Randy (Missy) Planthaber, Zac (Katie) Deets, and Jace (Andrea) Deets; seven step-grandchildren, Jeff Stuckey, Jace (Shannon) Stuckey, Tracy (Erika) Stuckey, Kenneth Brunner, Alicia Brunner, Keith Nurre, and Matthew Nurre; many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; one daughter, Linda Brearton; two grandchildren, Bradley and Angela Marie Planthaber in infancy; one step-granddaughter, Amanda Grace Nurre; four sisters, Marjorie Hinton, Myrna Spade, Lola Cashion, and Idella Upton; two brothers, Samuel C. and Dean Keller.
A private family memorial service will be held.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
