dorothy dykhuizen-tuckerDorothy Lillian Dykhuizen-Tucker, 91, of 1473 Atkinson Road, Dixon, IL, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at her home.

Dorothy was born February 6, 1924, in Port Angeles, WA, to Walter and Katie (Pettie) Bailey. She was educated in the Tacoma, WA, grade schools and graduated from high school in Tacoma. Dorothy married Alvin “Bud” Dykhuizen on August 8, 1947, in Morrison, IL. He died October 5, 1994. She then married Robert S. Tucker on November 26, 2005, in Garden Plain, IL. He died July 9, 2009. Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where she participated in Church Women United and taught Bible Study. Dorothy was an avid writer, especially loving to write poetry. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening and was an avid bird lover. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making teddy bears and crocheting.

Survivors include two daughters, Nadine Morgan of Morrison and Lois Barnhart of Dixon, IL; three grandchildren, Sheri (Glen) Berry, Terri (Scott) Weidemann, and Angela Barnhart; five great-grandchildren; a very special friend of the family, Art Barnhart.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin; her second husband, Robert; one son, Richard Dykhuizen.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Mr. Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday March 25, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Minta Cemetery, Fulton, IL

MEMORIALS:  Audubon Society, American Cancer Society, and Hospice of the Rock River Valley
