Dorothea L. Long, age 98, of Sterling, IL, died Monday, December 25, 2023, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL.
Dorothea was born September 28, 1925, in Amboy, IL, the daughter of Anders Rudolph and Leone (Phillips) Lindstrom. She married Kenneth E. Long on May 13, 1945, in Dixon, IL. He preceded her in death on August 2, 2003. She was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling for 18 years, retiring in 1984. She had also worked at Sears for ten years. Dorothea was an avid card player and reader and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Long of Sterling and Linda (Don) Nordmoe of Rockford, IL; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
A Graveside Service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Messiah Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL, of which she was a member.
