Doris R. Dykstra, 86, of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Harbor Crest Home, Fulton, IL.
Doris was born May 29, 1927, in Fulton to John E. and Nellie (Sikkema) Vanderploeg. She was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and was a 1945 graduate of Fulton High School. Doris married John E. Dykstra on June 19, 1945, in Fulton. He died November 5, 2006. Doris farmed along with her husband, John, in the rural Fulton and Morrison, IL areas. She was a charter member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton and the church’s Lydia Bible Study group. She enjoyed reading and spending time with family.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Wayne) Rickertsen of Low Moor, IA; four sons, Len (Shirley) Dykstra of Fulton; Russ (Julie) Dykstra of Fulton; Dave (Laurie) Dykstra of Morrison; Warren (Karen) Dykstra of Camanche, IA; seven grandchildren, Lori (Joel) Brown, Jason (Rebecca) Rickertsen, Jeff Dykstra, Deanna (Jake) VanZuiden, Kendall (Emily) Dykstra, Matthew Dykstra, and Kristen Dykstra; two step-grandchildren, John and Chris Williams; nine great-grandchildren, Kaylee Rickertsen, Justin Brown, Stephanie Lankford, Makayla Lankford, Collin VanZuiden, Taylor Dykstra, McKenley Dykstra, Marshall Dykstra, and Ashton Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, two sisters, Bernadine Durkee and Rosemary Fanderclai; two brothers, Edward and Palmer Vanderploeg.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Fulton, IL

VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
