Doris I. Smith, 89 of Prophetstown, IL, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Allure of Prophetstown.
She was born on April 15, 1930, near Morrison, IL, the daughter of Henry Elmer and Florence (Hahn) Monnier. She was a 1948 graduate of Morrison High School and a 1981 graduate of Sauk Valley College, earning her Registered Nurse degree. Doris worked as a nurse for 20 years before retiring. She was united in marriage to Harley Roland Smith on January 23, 1953, in Morrison. He died March 4, 1978. She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church and a past member of Prophet Hills Golf Course. Doris enjoyed golfing, traveling, spending winters in Florida, crocheting, painting, and working about in her yard. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Johnson (Clint Fernandez), Terry (Gregory) Bickett, and Kathy (Joe) Massingill all of Prophetstown; son, Mike (Joan) Smith of Sterling, IL; sister Phyllis Jean Tichler of Morrison; eight grandchildren, Kelsey (Matt) White, Kiley Johnson, Steven Bickett, David (Amy) Bickett, Jon Bickett, Jamie Massingill, Aron (Jessica) Hassell, Byron (Adelina) Hassell; eight great-grandchildren, Jaron and Jenna Gibson, Jack and Kate White, Lucy Bickett, Noah, Bryant and Lana Sodaro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother William Monnier, and infant brother Henry Monnier.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at McDonald Funeral Home, 46 Grove Street, IL Route 78 North, Prophetstown, IL.
The funeral will fbe held on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown, IL.
