Donald “Pood” King, 86. Of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Resthave Care and Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL.
Pood was born August 22, 1935, in Sterling, IL, to Howard and Ivy (Twombly) King. He was a graduate of Morrison High School and Rockford Business College. On November 26, 1965, he married Coralyn Null in Morrison. Pood had worked at General Electric in Morrison for 37 years. He also worked as a Bailiff for the Morrison County Court House for 28 years, and for over 25 years he operated his own lawn mowing business. For 28 years Pood was a volunteer Fireman for the Morrison Fire Department. He was also a member of Morrison Masonic Dunlap Lodge #321 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Coralyn; sons, Toby (Barb) King of Morrison, Kevin (Melissa) King of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Jeff (Denise) King of Peru, IL; seven grandchildren, Kendra King, Andy (Kayla) Ellerbrock, Chelsea King, Elyssia (Adam) Sharrow, Dalton (Tiffany) Sego, McKenna (fiancé Joey) King, and Erika King; one great-grandson, Bryce Brooker; brother-in-law, Jody (Nancy) Null.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m.,Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the funeral home. During the Visitation, at 6:00 p.m., there will be a Fire Department walk-through.
Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established.
