Donald L. Geerts, 82, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL.
Donald was born April 24, 1933, in Morrison, to Rensie and Ella (Housenga) Geerts. He was educated in the Morrison Grade and High Schools. Don served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He married Audrey M. VenHuizen on June 24, 1960, in Erie, IL. Don was first employed by Wilkens Grocery Store and then Herman Nelson Manufacturing, both of Morrison. Most recently, he was employed by General Electric in Morrison, retiring in 1995. Don was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. He was active in a Hilltop Lanes Bowling League and was a member of the Round Robin Model Railroaders.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; one sister, Clara (Orville) Goodenough of Morrison; one brother, Larry (Jean) Geerts of Morrison; three special nieces, Leanne Geerts, Suzanne (Art) Walaszek, and Pamela Geerts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Ann Wiersema; one brother, Paul Geerts.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2015, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
