On Monday June 14, 2021, Donald G. Devers died in the comfort of his home, with his family by his side. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Don was born December 22, 1935, in Sterling, IL, the son of Earl and Lois (Taylor) Devers. Don served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Fort Knox, KY. While stationed, he met his beloved wife Beulah Mae Brey. They married on September 5, 1959, at St. Ann’s Church in Howardstown, KY, and, shortly after, relocated to Rock Falls IL. He worked at National Manufacturing for a number of years, but finished his career at Northwestern Steel & Wire, where he worked for 28 years. He was well known by the name of “Lightning” around the mill.
Survivors include daughter, Marry Ann (Milton) Richardson of Rock Falls; sons, Ronald (Sandra) Devers of Roaring Springs, PA, Donald (Brenda) Devers of Batesville, AR, and Mike (Paula) Devers of Rock Falls; sister, Beverly Pickering of Dixon, IL; brother, Earl (Joyce) Devers of Rock Falls; nine grandchildren, Ashley (William) Thacker of Rock Falls, Kyle Devers of Batesville, Amber (Justin) Brown of Springfield, IL, Cody (Danielle) Richardson of Rock Falls, Tyler Devers of Little Rock, AR, Brianna (Tyler) Tornow of Morrison, IL, Doug (Jessica) Devers of Rock Falls, Aaron Devers of Roaring Springs, AR, and Leah Schuldt of Wisconsin; 11 great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Beulah; son, Jimmy Devers; brothers, Leonard, Robert, Carroll, and Ronald Devers.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 18, 2021, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls,IL.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Richard Russo officiating.
Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL.
