Donald Eugene Stuart, age 78, resident of Regency Care in Sterling, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, May 16, 2019, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Donald was born on April 17, 1941, in Rockford, IL, the son of Marian and Geneva (Meurs) Stuart.  He married Charlene Cox Rehmert on September 5, 1987, in Erie, IL.  Donald worked at Workman’s Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling in Morrison, IL, for 37 years until retirement.  He loved going to concerts and on bus trips and enjoyed scrapping metal and nature.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene of Sterling; two daughters, Brenda Stuart of Fulton and Theresa (Dave) Wilhelm of Clinton, IA; four sons, Dwayne (Katie) Stuart of Little Oklahoma, Lee (Deanna) Stuart of Fulton, Keith Stuart of Fulton, and Glenn (Dawn) Stuart of Fulton; two step-sons, Larry (Julie) Rehmert of Sterling and Eric (Angie) Rehmert of Owensville, MO; three sisters, Marilyn (Harlan) Vegter of Morrison, Judy (Richard) Holesinger of Fulton, and Nelta (David) Roeder of Morrison; three brothers, Richard Stuart of Clinton, Larry Stuart of Rock Falls, IL, and Joel (Nikki) Stuart of Rapids City, IL; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marlene Glispie of Rock Falls; brothers-in-law, Eammon (Becky) Cox of Erie and Michael (Sharon) Ballard of Surprise, AZ; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Courtney Marweg Stuart and Samantha Stuart; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Wright Echebarria.

Visitation will be Monday, May 20, 2019, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton, IL.

Graveside service will follow at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Richard Adams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Ronald McDonald House and the Neurology Department at the University of Iowa Medical Center.
