donald holesingerDonald E. Holesinger, 85, of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, IA.

Donald was born October 30, 1935, in Union Grove Township, IL, to George and Flora (Post) Holesinger.  He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools.  Don married Audrey E. VanZuiden on March 27, 1958, at Second Reformed Church in Fulton.  He served as a medic in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, at Fort Lewis in Washington and Fort Sam Houston in Texas.  Don was a farmer all his life, until retiring in 1998.  He sold Pioneer seed corn for 25 years while farming, and after retiring he worked for Wilson Bull operating the combine for many years.  He enjoyed working on his John Deere antique tractors and loved bowling, especially when he bowled a perfect 300 game in 1997 in Fulton.  Don served as an Elder and Deacon at Second Reformed Church in Fulton and also had played on the church softball team.  Don and Audrey enjoyed spending their winters in Gulf Shores, AL.  They traveled to many states throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.  For over 40 years they had a family vacation at Mogasheen Resort in Wisconsin.  For 11 years Don enjoyed taking fishing trips to Ontario, Canada.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; daughter, Kristi (Tom) Huizenga of Morrison, IL; sons, Tim (Lori) Holesinger of Farmington, NM, and Matt Holesinger of Roscoe, IL; four grandchildren, Allie (Brian) Loschen, Kaylie Huizenga, Zackary Holesinger, and Libbie Holesinger; four great-grandchildren, Mason, Landon, Lucas, and Adalyn Loschen; brother Richard (Judy) Holesinger of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Abbie Huizenga; brother, Allen Holesinger.

A private family Visitation will be held at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

A private Graveside Service will be held at Garden Plain Cemetery, in rural Fulton, IL, with Ken Renkes officiating.

A memorial to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities has been established.
