donald damhoffDonald Damhoff, 91, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison.

Don was born October 9, 1925, in Clinton, IA, to George and Maggie (Naninga) Damhoff. He was educated in the Lockhart Grade School of rural Whiteside County and was a graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II in the European, African, Middle Eastern, Asiatic, and Pacific Theatres, and was awarded a Bronze Star. Don married Geraldine A. Zuidema on April 14, 1948, in Morrison. He was first employed as a carpenter from 1948 to 1950, then he started farming in the rural Mt. Pleasant Township area and farmed his entire life. Don was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, a member of the Morrison American Legion Post #328 and VFW #8281, a member of Whiteside County Livestock Feeders Association, and served as a Director of Morrison Farmer’s Elevator.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine, “Deanie;” one daughter, Debra (Michael) Morgan of Sterling, IL; two sons, David (Becki) Damhoff and Richard (Julie) Damhoff both of Morrison; eight grandchildren, Derik (Nina) Damhoff, Dustin (Jackie) Damhoff, Maggie (Jody) Young, Scott (Emily) Morgan, Danielle (Clayton) Bicker, Jason Damhoff, Lindsay (Jon) Filbrun, and Jill Damhoff; 13 great-grandchildren, Dailey and Dash Damhoff, Sophie, Kaleb, and Ellie Damhoff, Logan and Kyle Young, Briston and Oakley Bicker, Kirsten, Keeley, and Blayne Damhoff, and Trae Filbrun; seven step-grandchildren, Zach (Lani) Houzenga, Abe Houzenga, Michael (Melissa) Morgan, Teri (Dan) Danreiter, Brooke Danreiter, Angie (Brian) Waugh, and David Dykstra; 13 step-great-grandchildren, Cooper and Drew Houzenga,Sydney Young, Conner, Riley, Brody, and Gracie Morgan, Lainah Endzelis, Ethan, Evan, Addison, and Quinn Waugh, and Amya Filbrun; sister-in-law, Evelyn Damhoff of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Douglas Damhoff; one daughter-in-law, Susan Damhoff; two brothers, Bernard and Raymond Damhoff.  

FUNERAL SERVICE:  11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL

CO-OFFICIATING:  Rev. Gerald H. Norman, Pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church, and Ken Renkes

VISITATION:  9:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016, until the time of the service at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
