Surrounded by her loving family, Dolores J. McDonald, 84, of Cedar Rapids, IA, formerly of Lyndon IL, went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 28, 2014, at Garnett Place Retirement Community in Cedar Rapids.
Born December 1, 1930, in Clinton, IA, she was the daughter of Ernest E. and Anna J. (Aiken) Hayen. She was united in marriage to Kenneth L. McDonald on July 29, 1956, in Lyndon. Dolores spent her entire life in the Lyndon area.
Dolores dedicated her life to taking care of her family and friends. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lyndon and was active in every aspect of the church. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were her entire world, and she meant the world to them.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 58 years, Kenneth; two daughters, Kathleen (Rick) Michaels of Princeton, IL, and Marlene (Gordon) Booth of Marian, IA; two sons, Learl (Janine) McDonald of Mendota, IL, and Neil (Pam) McDonald of Georgetown, IN; a brother Arlyn (Sally) Hayen of Morrison, IL; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at McDonald Funeral Home in Prophetstown, IL.
The funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Andy Ploenzke officiating.
Burial will be at Lyndon Cemetery in Lyndon, IL.
