Dick L. Gruhn, 73 years old, of Lanark, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014, in his home.
He was born on February 18, 1941, in Clinton, IA, the son of John and Helen (Lindstrom) Gruhn. He was a 1959 graduate of Lanark High school. On April 16, 1961, he married Janet Diffenderfer in Lanark. He worked for Kelly Springfield for 35 years until he retired. His hobbies were wood working, puzzles, attending sporting events, playing cards with family, yard work, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife and children, Kristine (Bryan) Hardacre, Kirt (Cathy) Gruhn, Elaine (Jeffery) Gallentine of Lanark, Francine (Robert) Smith of Morrison, IL, Roderic (Beverly) Gruhn of Milledgeville, IL; brother, Duane (Myrna) Gruhn of Lanark; sister, Janice (Robert) Noble of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law, Dolores Gruhn of Mesa, AZ; father-in-law; Paul Diffenderfer of Lanark; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Dick is preceded by his parents; son, Brent; two twin granddaughters, Caitlyn and Courtney Gallentine; brother, Marvin; mother-in-law, Blanche Diffenderfer.
Services were on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Brethren Church in Lanark, IL, with Pastor Clair Lathrop officiating.
Visitation was on Friday, August 22, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Brethren Church.
Burial was at the Lanark[, IL,] Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name.
