Della Mae Johnson, 90, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the nursing home.
Della was born September 22, 1923, in Ustick Township, Whiteside County, IL, to Bernie and Cora (Tiesenga) Pruis. She was educated in the Northside and Southside Grade Schools in Morrison and graduated from Morrison High School in 1941. Della married Clarence E. Johnson on April 10, 1951, in Morrison. He died August 8, 2010. She worked at ICA Refrigerator Co. in Morrison, then at the Wrigley Gum factory in Chicago, IL. She also worked at Volckmann’s Furniture Factory, the GE cafeteria, Vend-O-Mack Sales and later, the Big Mini, all in Morrison. Della was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church where she was active in the Ruth Circle. She loved to sew, quilt, cook and bake, and do crafts. She loved her flowers and gardening and enjoyed taking pictures.
Survivors include one daughter, Arla, (Bill) Korver of Maurice, IA; two sons, Alan Johnson of Morrison, and Arnold (Tim) Johnson of Alamogordo, NM; three grandsons, Tony (Karen) Korver, Jeremy (Alyssa) Korver, and Trenton Korver; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Haley, Noah, and Ella Korver; three step-grandchildren, Nancy, Toni and Sandy; nine step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hilda Foster of Morrison; one brother, Art (Betty) Pruis of Morrison; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Pruis of Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; four brothers, Jay (Bernice), Fred (Winnie) Dwayne, and Menno (Pauline) Pruis; one brother-in-law, Raymond Foster.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
VISITATION: 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service on Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
