Risa (Jeff) Weets, left, grandson Brody Tucker (son of Chris and Katie), all of Morrison, IL, and Sarah Weets, Palatine, IL, supported the breakfast fundraiser hosted by Bethesda Blaze Relay For Life Team, on Saturday, February 21, 2015.  From 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. at DQ Grill & Chill, 200 N. Sawyer Road, Morrison, a steady stream of patrons supported the cause of cancer research.

Breakfast items included scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage patties, biscuits and sausage gravy, juice, and coffee.  Like a great buffet, diners could have some of everything.  Even the business owner, Ellen Smith, told her mother, “This is delicious!” as they shared breakfast.  Smith gave credit to her cook, Peggy Oncken, for setting up the event last night and preparing the variety of tasty food, which attracted and satisfied the public of all ages.

Oncken and her assistant posed with the Bethesda Blaze members.  Left-to-right in front are Amber Rolland, Andrea Dalton, Oncken, and Mary Ellen Brackemyer.  In back are Nancy Usterbowski, Kathy Janicek, and DQ staffer Kaylee Shetler.

Dalton tallied donations of $743, “better than last year’s” event.  Supplemental matching funds of $125 were provided by Thrivent Financial Chapter #31115, raising the total to $868.

Bethesda Blaze was the 2014 first place Relay For Life of Whiteside County fundraising group.  The Morrison women raised  $10,000 throughout the year for the American Cancer Society.  Over their 15 years, the team has collected nearly $100,000.

Bethesda Blaze Relay For Life Team, along with support from DQ Grill & Chill, will serve a matching breakfast from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015.  Take another opportunity to fight cancer over a delicious meal with family and friends.  Come and make a donation.  All proceeds from these events go to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event of Whiteside County.  Mark your calendar and support this great cause.

Ellen and Bart Smith, owners of DQ Grill & Chill, are co-sponsors of these community breakfasts.  Left-to-right are Usterbowski, Janicek, Smith, Rolland, and Dalton.
