The Morrison High School Music Department is excited to introduce its new a capella pop group, Dodeca, as it presents its inaugural Holiday Pops Dinner on Friday, December 8, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. This dinner and concert will be held in the Fellowship Room of Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, in Morrison, IL. Access to the room is fully handicapped accessible, through an elevator directly off the parking lot at the rear of the church.
Tickets to the event are $20 and include a delicious dinner. Tickets must be pre-ordered through the Morrison High School office by Monday, November 27, with money paid at time of reservation.
Dodeca was the name chosen, because it stands for the Greek name “twelve.” Twelve singers represent sopranos, altos, tenors, and bases singing four-to-eight-part music. Additionally, there are 12 notes of the chromatic scale.
This new group sings many different styles of pop, from music of the 1950’s moving through the decades, to current songs heard on today’s radio. At times, vocal jazz is included in the repertoire, as well as familiar Christmas carols, which will be heard frequently throughout this dinner performance.
Dodeca is under the direction of Morrison Junior High and High School Director of Choral Activities, Maria Brown. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Brown is in her second year with the Morrison School District.
