Join us for a “daylight into dark” Christmas Walk at Heritage Canyon on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from noon to 6:00 p.m. Explore our festive village, at 515 N. 4th Street, Fulton, IL. There is no admittance charge. However donations are gratefully received. Ride the free Jolly Trolley from downtown Fulton to-and-from the Canyon.
In late afternoon, candles and lanterns will illuminate the paths and buildings. For walking safety, the log cabin on a hill will not be accessible after dusk. Bring a flashlight if you choose.
Eleven buildings recreate towns of the 1800s and early 1900s. Early American Crafters bring the buildings alive with Christmas activities. Guest Crafters demonstrate their skills and have merchandise to sell.
Begin at the Town Hall. Enjoy free cookies and warm beverages: Canyon tea; cocoa, and coffee. Santa and Mrs. Claus await children, and they will entertain in the Church. Christmas vocal and instrumental music will be found in the Town Hall, Doctor’s Office, and Church.
In the General Store our Canyon Postmistress has a blank letter to Santa, for children to complete. She will stamp it; kids may drop it into the green post box. Shop for ornaments, cook books, hand made gifts: knitted lap blankets, crocheted pot holders, loomed rugs, and candles. Climb the stairs to view exhibits and the new Library.
Skunk Hollow schoolhouse has activities to enjoy.
Dress up for whatever the weather, including “a blessing of snow,” as they say in northwest St. Louis. Heritage Canyon always offers photogenic opportunities!
