On Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Heritage Canyon, 515 N. 4th Street, Fulton, IL, the Early American Crafters will host a Christmas Walk from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The theme is “Bring Joy and Cheer to Bad Year!”
Visit in the daylight or during candle/lantern-lit times. A flashlight or smartphone are suggested for walking after dusk.
However, the City of Fulton, IL, will not host their annual Christmas Walk.
COVID-19 restrictions have dictated a modified approach to viewing the 11 canyon buildings. Wearing a mask and keeping a social distance will help keep everyone safe.
Free, continuous transportation to and from the canyon, via the Jolly Trolley, is courtesy of the City of Fulton. Pick up and drop off is the parking lot of CrossView Church, 703 14th Avenue. (This is the large, red bricked, former Second Reformed Church.)
Visitors will walk by, and peek into, the windows of decorated buildings without entering. Your Early American Crafters interpreters will be inside, doing holiday activities. You may speak to them from outside the buildings and take charming photographs of the winter canyon. The Log Cabin on the hill will be closed.
The Town Hall at the top of the venue will have a one-way entrance and exit, so people can receive complimentary bagged cookies and hot drinks. This year is in “grab-and-go” fashion, without the customary lingering.
Check for live music. The Doctor and his son Fulton’s Charles and Walker Avery, respectively, will play ukuleles outside the blue Dr.’s Office. Near the Church, Coral and daughter Kiki Flikkema will sing carols in the gazebo; join in a sing-along. The church foyer is open, but the sanctuary entrance is gated. Stand and listen to an acoustic guitarist accompanied by Annis Baer’s vocals.
