On 12/27/15 at about 7:19 p.m., Whiteside County Deputies investigated a two-vehicle crash on IL RT 30 and White Oaks Road, rural Sterling, IL.
Investigation revealed a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Vernetta S. Haywood, 23, of Clinton, IA, was traveling westbound on U. S. Route 30, when she left the north side of the roadway. She lost control and entered the eastbound lane, into the path of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Arthur K. VanZuiden, 24, of Highland Park, IL, where the units nearly collided head on.
Arthur, Vernetta, and her passengers, Vertronda L. Davis, 21, of Clinton, IA, and a seven-year-old male were all transported to MCH for non-life-threatening injuries.
Vernetta was issued a citation for improper lane usage and released with a promise to comply.
Morrison Fire and Ambulance, CGH Ambulance, and the Illinois State Police assisted on scene.
