Coordinated and led by local volunteers, fundraising groups have raised funds throughout the year to sponsor the placement of more than 200 veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of our fallen service members laid to rest there.
National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will place wreaths. DAR members of Carroll Jo Daviess Chapter 5015-IL, District II, and, perhaps, some CAR youngsters (Children of the American Revolution) will place the wreaths.
Morrison, IL, American Legion Post 328 will provide the Color Guard and give the Rifle Salute.
Port Byron Veterans Memorial will host a wreath-laying ceremony only.
About Wreaths Across America
Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s mission–Remember, Honor, Teach–is carried out in part each year, by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as at thousands of veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in 50 states and beyond.
