“de Immigrant” Mill Flour Bake-Off 2015

siftFlourThe Education Committee of Fulton’s de Immigrant Windmill Area will be hosting its third annual baking competition.  The Bake-Off will be held during Fulton’s Fall Festival, Saturday, September 26, 2015. 

This year’s competition will have seven categories: 

  • Bars
  • Bread (yeast or sweet)
  • Cake
  • Cookies
  • Muffins
  • Pie. 

Judges are Renee Holmes from Krumpets in Fulton, IL; Derek Thornton from Sweetheart Bakery in Clinton, IA; Karen Abbott of Fulton. 

Cost per entry is $10, which includes a bag of de Immigrant flour.  This must be the main ingredient in any items submitted.  

Print the entry form below or pick up one at the Windmill Cultural Center, 111 Tenth Avenue, in Fulton, through Wednesday, September 23.  Hours through Monday, September 7, are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  From Tuesday, September 8, until the end of the month hours are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Rules of Participation:

  1. $10 per entry (a bag of mill flour of choice per entry)

  2. 1 item submitted per entry

  3. de Immigrant flour must be an ingredient.

  4. Entries must be on a disposable plate.

  5. Entries must be covered with plastic wrap or in a ziplock bag.

  6. Entries must be table-ready and require no heat or refrigeration.

  7. Recipes must accompany entries and become the property of WCC.

Entries due at WCC on Friday, September 25, between 10:00 a.m. and noon.  Please bring this completed form with your entry.
