Darlene P. Adolph, 89, of Milledgeville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, Morrison, IL.
Darlene was born October 3, 1933, the daughter of Jesse and Hazel Hartman. She attended Mt. Carroll High School. She married the love of her life, Vernon Adolph, Jr. in 1950. They were married for 72 years.
Darlene held many roles over her years including farmer’s wife, waitress, and owner of a local drug store. She volunteered at, and donated to, the Carroll County Food Pantry, and The Milledgeville Boosters, and she was a joyful member of the Red Hat Club.
Faith and family were the most important things to Darlene. She was a longtime member of the Dutchtown Church of the Brethren, Milledgeville. She was affectionately known as “Mom” to four and “Grandma” to seven. Darlene spent her years caring for, and doing anything possible to, help those whom she loved.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon; sons, Sam (Jackie), Lou (Carole), Steve (Jill), and Jeff; seven grandchildren, Jami (Steve) Shackelford, Abbie (David) Reitzel, Melissa Adolph, Stacey Brown, Joe (Lauren) Adolph, Jason (Danielle) Adolph, and Justin (Anna) Adolph; 11 great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, Lauren, Hailey, Campbell, Bryce, Theo, Landon, Eliana, Storm, and Idris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald; daughter-in-law, Jill.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Dutchtown Church of the Brethren, Milledgeville, IL, with Pastor Terri Monnin, officiating.
Burial will be at Dutchtown Cemetery, Milledgeville, IL.
There will be no Visitation.
A memorial has been established to benefit Carroll County Food Pantry and Milledgeville American Legion.
