On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, the Rock River DAR Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, toured the Lincoln-Manahan Home Museum, 607 E. Third Street, in Sterling, IL. Before he became President, Abraham Lincoln stayed overnight in this now-restored home.
On Sunday, October 14, the Rock River DAR Chapter donated an American flag to the Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society, at the Lincoln Learning Center in Sterling, during their regular monthly meeting.
The flag had flown over the White House on Abraham Lincoln’s 209th birthday, February 12.
Shown in the photograph are Rosanne Kaletka-Johnson, DAR Registrar, and Gene Jacoby, Vice President of Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society.
Membership in the DAR is open to any female descendant who can prove an ancestor aided in achieving our American independence.
